Why do medical errors occur?
Medical errors occur for the same reasons as any other errors. The doctor or hospital could have gotten careless in some cases. In others, the error could be caused by a doctor having far too many patients to be able to devote a sufficient amount of time to each one. Missed diagnoses could be caused by a doctor mistaking nearly identical symptoms for a different ailment than what was actually being suffered. The reasons are numerous and diverse but almost all result in harm being done to the patient.
