How does consent work for medical procedures?
Before a doctor performs any procedure, whether it is a vaccine or open heart surgery, the patient is
expected to give his or her consent for the procedure. Sometimes, due to incapacity or unconsciousness,
consent has to be construed or assumed. Without consent, the doctor has not been authorized to do anything
to his or her patient.
