Hospital admits to giving kidney to wrong patient

A hospital in Dallas, Texas, has suspended its kidney donation program after discovering that the wrong patient recently received a kidney transplant.
The error occurred at the Methodist Dallas Medical Center. A kidney was ready for transplant, but it was transplanted into the wrong person on the organ donation list. Luckily, the person who received the kidney had no complications, and the kidney turned out to be compatible with that individual.
The person responsible for the mistake has been fired. As a result of this medical error, the hospital put its kidney and pancreas donation programs on hold. All of the people who are awaiting transplants at this hospital will still be notified of a match, but the surgery will take place at a different location.
