Christus Health Southeast Texas Hospital has been ordered topay $1.4 Million to a woman whose daughter died of a heart attack afterreceiving treatment at the facility.
Mary Ann Licatino filed a medical malpractice suit againstthe hospital after her daughter Stacy Meaux died of a heart attack a day afterreceiving treatment at Christus. Licatino alleges that Meaux’s death was causedby an incorrect diagnosis by the attending physician, Dr. Michael Peterson, andnegligent treatment by the hospital’s nursing staff.
Peterson settled the case against him out of court, whilethe hospital took the case to civil trial. A jury found that Christus nurses failedto adequately treat Meaux, contributing directly to her death from cardiacarrest.
