Over 10,000 veterans have been exposed to HIV and strains of Hepatitis after undergoing endoscopic procedures at three separate Veterans Affairs hospitals. The hospitals in question are located in Miami, FL, Murfreesboro, TN and Augusta, GA.

The hospitals sent out letters, asking all of the veterans treated to be tested. As of June 12, 2009, 6 have tested positive for HIV, 13 for Hepatitis B and another 34 for Hepatitis C. All of these infections were caused by improper sterilization of medical equipment.
