Plastic Surgery Errors
Plastic surgeons are doctors just like any other surgeon. They too can make errors when performing their procedures. The biggest difference is that when people go to visit a plastic surgeon, the effects are supposed to produce a positive change in their external appearance. So on top of potentially causing difficulties, the surgery can result in a negative effect on a person’s physical appearance.
Plastic surgery errors can occur in any procedure. Many of the mistakes can be avoided by properly screening the patient. Just like any surgery, plastic surgery errors include improperly performed procedures, surgical errors, and poor post-op care.
People who have facial procedures, like nose jobs and face lifts, are most likely to notice a botched job. In addition to being most noticeable, facial errors are also the most difficult to repair. A patient with a botched procedure on the face is likely to look wooden or unnatural. In extreme cases, a botched job can result in partial or full paralysis of the face due to either nerve damage or tightened skin tissue.
Just as likely to cause problems are implants. With breast augmentation, overly inflating the implant can cause gross disproportion for the person. If the implants are not placed correctly, they can look odd, no matter where the implant is in the body. Asymmetry, gross disproportion, and dangerous leaks are all hazards. In addition, implant procedure mistakes can cause excessive scarring and hardening of body tissues.
Errors in other parts of the body may be easier to mask but can still cause the same damage to a person’s self esteem and mental image as other errors.
